The development committee of Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux has the wind in its sails and prepares a balance sheet strong stimulant of the last year. At its annual general meeting held on 28 march, seven directors were elected, plus two directors delegated by the municipality.
This is Sylvie Brochu, president, Lucie Malenfant, vice-president, Ginette Rainville, secretary-treasurer, Marie-France Camirand, Marlaine Samson, Maylina Fournier, Réal Dubé, René Bérubé and Marc Jean.
November 18, 2017, the development committee in collaboration with the SADC des Basques held a public meeting presenting its action plan 2017-2022 front of 60 participants. A major mobilization was then coordinated around projects considered priorities arising from the steps advisory previous. Thus, a sub-committee of beautification and development has put in place a number of small working committees, either for the continuation of the development of the municipal beach of the Waterfront, the creation of a site of birdwatching, the study of a project of ecological trails, and the deployment of a landscape plan overall for the municipality. The committee also intends to undertake steps aimed at investigating the development potential of a city land bordering the grand lac Saint-Mathieu.
On the other hand, a sub-committee of communication, promotion and signage lingers first to develop a wayfinding plan that is harmonized, effective and aesthetic, designed to better orient and welcome visitors and passers-by. The development committee also intends to support the efforts aimed at the recovery of the recreation Committee and support all steps relevant for the accessibility to the cell phone network as an essential need. Supported and accompanied by the SADC des Basques, more than a dozen volunteers are involved on the various committees and sub-committees relating to the implementation of the projects of the action plan 2017-2022.
The development committee had also submitted to the municipal council a project of hiring a development officer, to support and facilitate initiatives related to local development. At the annual general meeting, the mayor of Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux, Roger Martin, confirmed that the hiring process will shortly be launched, in order to open this new key position. A partnership with the Corporation du Parc du Mont-St-Mathieu is prepared to share this resource.
With an environment very pleasant and the renewal continuous of its population, the development committee would like to thank all local actors that are at work in order to continue to make Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux a municipality, energetic, welcoming and attractive.
