The Quebec Remparts have acquired the goaltender from Lac-Etchemin, Anthony Samuel, the result of a transaction with the Drakkar of Baie-Comeau.

Samuel was acquired with a choice of the fifth round session of repechage 2019 League the Quebec major junior hockey (QMJHL).

In return, the Walls have succumbed to the Drakkar striker Luke Kirwan and two choices of the second round to drafts 2019 and 2020.

Samuel is a fourth season in the QMJHL. 29 attendance in front of the net this season, he has won 12 victories and suffered 13 defeats, kept an average of goals allowed 2.99, and a percentage of efficiency .923.

Career with the Cataracts de Shawinigan and the Drakkar, he has accumulated a record of 49 wins, 75 losses, for an average goals allowed of 3.32 and an efficiency percentage of .900.

Samuel had been a choice of the third round (56th overall) of the Cataracts to the draft in 2013.

Mixed feelings

The transaction will allow possibly the goalkeeper etcheminois to make a piece of path in series and aspire to the honors for the first time in his career.

He was very grateful to the organization of the Ship for having granted him this chance. “I was expecting an exchange, but to Quebec, it surprised me. I was very happy,” says Antoine Samuel.

The Walls already have a guardian established in Dereck Baribeau, who belongs to the organization of the Wild of Minnesota. Antoine does not.

“In 20 years, if a team comes to pick me up, this is not for me to put on the bench. There will be a healthy competition. I get wanting to perform, and if I do it, the use will follow”, he believes.

According to him, the Walls want to make it to the end. “The team went to search for Pascal Laberge, a player drafted in the second round in the national League, to position themselves and fight in a series”, he adds.

The exchange offers him the best of both worlds in his opinion. “In addition to having a chance to win, this will be a big plus to be able to play on a stage like that. We know that recruiters are a lot in Quebec city and I will be closer to my family. In quebec it is for us, it is a bit of a dream of youth. Then I’ll be able to enjoy it and share it with my family,” concludes the latter.
