Quebec rejected Monday the last stretched hand of the lawyers of the State.
The lawyers on strike since last November asked for mediation before the tabling of a special law scheduled for Monday at the end of the day in the National Assembly. They relied on a recommendation from the Barreau du Quebec and the Chambre des notaires.
But the president of the Conseil du trésor, Pierre Moreau, has indicated that he is dismissing this scenario. In a telephone interview on Monday, her spokesperson, Catherine Fournier, argued that there had already been six mediation sessions last summer.
She stressed that mediation usually serves to distinguish between points of convergence and divergence between the parties, and in this case they are well known, she said.
The association representing lawyers of the State, Lawyers and Notaries of the Quebec State (LANEQ), made a last counter-proposal on Sunday, without success.
