Nearly 1,400 people traveled during the last weekend at the Sainte-Claire arena for the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudiere-Appalaches regional figure skating championships.
345 skaters and skaters competed for both the STAR / Michel Proulx regional finals, but above all because the two regions were selected for the next Quebec Games. People came from everywhere. Not only from Bellechasse or Beauce, but Lotbiniere, Montmagny, Levis, Québec and Portneuf and even Charlevoix.
In the majority of categories, skaters and skaters who won the first two positions in their class standings get their passes for the Jeux du Quebec to be held in Alma from February 25 to March 4.
In Bellechasse, Rosalie Fauchon distinguished herself for CPA Abenakis by winning the gold medal in the Juvenile category. She finished 1st in front of 26 other skaters.
Her elder sister Emilie also made a fine appearance, winning a bronze medal in the Pre-Novice category. It will be the first substitute in its category for the Games. The Sainte-Marie club will delegate three skaters to this competition, while Charny, Thetford and St-Romuald / St-Jean will each have one representative.
Coralie Godbout of Saint-Charles also gets her ticket for Alma in the category Novice in girls. It will however represent the region of the National Capital since it is now affiliated to the Sainte-Foy club.
