Former Liberal Minister Line Beauchamp is appointed personal representative of the Premier of Quebec for La Francophonie.
Ms. Beauchamp, who is Quebec’s delegate general in Paris, will also be responsible for representing the interests of the Government of Quebec in the Organization internationale de la Francophonie on behalf of Prime Minister Philippe Couillard. She replaces Michel Robitaille who held the same two positions.
In particular, Line Beauchamp’s mandate will be to promote Québec’s positions in promoting democracy and the rule of law, gender equality, the fight against radicalization leading to violence and economic Francophonie.
From 2003 to 2012, Line Beauchamp was successively Minister of Culture and Communications, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and Deputy Premier of Quebec. She was a member of Parliament from 1998 to 2012, first for the Montreal riding of Sauve and then for Bourassa-Sauve.
