George Michael died of natural causes, according to the coroner

George Michael died of natural causes as a result of heart disease and a liver problem, said a British coroner on Tuesday.

According to coroner Darren Salter of Oxfordshire County in southern England, the singer died of “dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and hepatic steatosis”.

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the left ventricle muscle weakens and the cardiac cavity expands, limiting the heart’s ability to pump blood. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle.

The former singer of the band Wham! Was found dead on December 25 at his second home in Oxfordshire. He was 53 years old. An initial autopsy did not determine the cause of his death.

Salter said no further investigations will take place, as George Michael died of natural causes.

The Wham! Band, created by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, broke record-breaking records in the 1980s with songs like Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Young Guns (Go For It) .

George Michael then continued his career on his own and was a real success selling more than 100 million albums around the world.
