A funeral prayer will be held in memory of the six victims of the shooting at the Great Mosque, Friday at 1 pm, at the Quebec City Convention Center.
Muslim funeral prayer ( salat Aljanaza ) Friday will follow the daily prayer from 12:30 at the mosque in Sainte-Foy. The bodies of Mamadou Tanou Barry, Ibrahima Barry and Azzeddine Soufiane, three fathers of family who died under bullets, Sunday, will be exposed.
However, the doors to the Prayer Room of the Convention Center will be open from 11 am, the Islamic Cultural Center in Quebec City announced Wednesday, with a large crowd expected.
According to the mayor of Quebec City, Regis Labeaume, it was necessary to shop a little to accommodate the bereaved families, their relatives and all citizens interested in participating in the funeral. As the first two targeted locations are not available, the Convention Center will eventually open. “It is a place that must contain several thousand people because they expect many visitors, including from Montreal,” said Mr. Labeaume.
Ceremony in Montreal Thursday
If she wants to remember the six victims, Friday’s ceremony in Quebec City will still follow a funeral prayer on Thursday in Montreal, held in memory of Khaled Belkacemi, Aboubaker Thabti and Abdelkrim Hassane. Prime Minister Philippe Couillard confirmed his presence at the ceremony held at Maurice-Richard Arena. It is for logistical reasons that a funeral commemoration will be held in the metropolis. The remains of the three victims are already in Montreal and will be transported to their country of origin to be buried after the ceremony.
The Anglican diocese of Quebec City will also hold a celebration of musical vespers in memory of the victims on Sunday at 5 pm at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. With Annie Morin and La Presse canadienne
